Dear Summer Body of Mine,
Hi. Hello! How are you? I am not sure that I have asked you that in a while. So here we are again; Summertime. Only this year feels different somehow.
This year, there is bit more freedom within you.
This year we have chosen to focus on the what we are doing, rather than the how we look doing it. This year we have made the executive decision to show up and truly let go of the perception that anyone (especially me), might have about our shape or size or wrinkles or rolls or marks or shade of our skin. And the crazy thing is, we are actually doing it–the thing that we once thought was impossible without perfectly toned abs.
The past few years we have been on a bit of a restorative journey, haven’t we? It’s been a rocky ride, and perhaps this is the Summer we feel the fruits of that labor. This work is continued, and I know I might let you down from time to time, but I gotta say thank you for staying the course and showing up in this world so powerfully. Thank you for hanging in there when I wasn’t able to love you. Thank you for bearing these 2 most beautiful gifts. Thank you for recovering imperfectly, stumbles and all. Thank you for functioning with near perfection, even to perform the most mundane tasks. Thank you for allowing me the gifts of walking, running, kissing, hugging, jumping, swimming, dancing–all the dancing! And so much more.
This is our time, and let me tell you this, Summer body of mine, the fun has just begun.
Love always, Me
